==Plot Summary==
Barney convinces Andy that handsome, young Dr. Robert Benson is moving in on Ellie. Andy decides to act and steps between these "two people lost in a world of pills" to claim Ellie's hand. When he learns that Dr. Benson is actually about to be married to someone else, Andy is forced into a proposal. Ellie, though, turns him down.

* George Nader, who plays the part of "Dr. Robert Benson", was in Rock Hudson's will. Nader retired to avoid a scandal over a romantic relationship with Hudson.
Nader and Mark Miller ( Barney's Replacement) moved to Germany for many years. After returning to the States, Nader was seriously injured in a car accident, he became a writer afterwards.

==Plot Summary==
Andy learns Opie is being tormented by a local bully, who threatens him with pulverization until he gets Opie's lunch money. Andy decides to let Opie fight this battle on his own. Opie goes to face his nemesis, and Andy suffers as he waits for his son to return. Opie returns to the courthouse as the better man--he won the fight for his rights.

==Plot Summary==
While chasing off a hobo, Barney stumbles over a briefcase loaded with $250,000
in cash. When he and Andy find the money is from a bank robbery, Barney goes
undercover to catch the thief. Barney openly flashes the money around town as a
lure for the crook. Unfortunately, the crook tricks Barney into believing he is
an FBI agent on the same case and manages to get the money back during a
stakeout. Andy arrives in time with the real federal agent and captures the
criminal.

== Odd Facts Known by Few ==
* Actor Hank Patterson was born in Springville, Alabama and was the great uncle of actress Tea Leoni.
* Actor Robert Brubaker was the only actor to play two re-occurring roles on Gunsmoke television series. He was the stagecoach driver Jim Buck in the first few seasons of the show, and portrayed Floyd the bartender (replacing Glenn Strange's character of Sam after Strange died) in the final season of the series.
* According to the book "Barney Fife and Other Characters I've Known", Don Knott's states he and Al Checco were very good friends for many years. After TAGS, Al and Don did many theatre engagements around the country.

Hometown hero Jim Lindsey makes a flashy return, but the town soon suspects he is not the big star he appears to be. After Andy investigates, he learns Jim cannot pay his bills. Furthermore, a collection agent shows up in Mayberry to repossess Jim's new Merecedes. Andy takes matters into his own hands, calls in Bobby Fleet, and Bobby and Jim patch up their creative differences.

A top-secret gold shipment from the Denver Mint to Fort Knox is scheduled to
make a stop in Mayberry, and only Andy and Barney know about it. It turns out
Barney can't keep a secret and everybody in town knows about the gold. The top
secret shipment is greeted with a carnival-like reception and Barney almost
blows another secret when he discovers the gold is gone. What Barney did not
know was that, at the last minute, the real shipment was diverted and the truck
was a decoy.

* This episode features a continuity error. When Gomer puts gas into the gold truck through the gun port, some of it splashes on Barney's pants leg. Less than a minute later, Barney leans down to examine a box with the "gold" in it and his pants are perfectly dry.
* This episode features the only appearance of Regis, played by Doodles Weaver, uncle of actress Sigourney Weaver. Doodles appeared in season two's "Aunt Bee's Brief Encounter" as George Bricker, the postman.
* Notice when Opie first comes into the courthouse, the two men are different actors then originally (Rance Howard has been replaced). I'm assuming that they needed a shot of Opie entering and Rance was not available.

* Additional continuity errors in this episode include: Barney dons a raincoat and hat to "go undercover" in advance of the gold truck's arrival, the coat has differing amounts of water from scene to scene. He enters the hotel dry, then becomes wet when reading Asa's paper, then dry then wet. Additionally, before Opie enters "the waiting room" (courthouse) the two "T Men", including Rance, remove their hats, as Opie passes them, their hats are on, the next shot pans to them and the hats are off again. Perhaps replaced onto the heads on purpose to conceal the fact the actors have been substituted.
* As far as I can remember, this is the only scene in all 249 episodes where all three Howard "men" are present in the same scene, Rance, Ronny, and Clint.

==Plot Summary==
A state inspector is on his way to visit the Mayberry jailhouse in order to
determine whether or not the sheriff's office needs additional funds. Before he
arrives, Opie brings a stray dog in who is followed by another ten of his
four-legged friends. Luckily, the inspector happens to raise dogs himself. He
befriends the dog-loving sheriff and deputy and sees to it they get the money
they need.

While chasing off a hobo, Barney stumbles over a briefcase loaded with $250,000
in cash. When he and Andy find the money is from a bank robbery, Barney goes
undercover to catch the thief. Barney openly flashes the money around town as a
lure for the crook. Unfortunately, the crook tricks Barney into believing he is
an FBI agent on the same case and manages to get the money back during a
stakeout. Andy arrives in time with the real federal agent and captures the

==Plot Summary==
Goober promises to mind the phone while Andy is away, but he gets tied up
working on Gilly Walker's car. When both Andy and Gilly demand he live up to his
promises, Goober decides to kill two birds with one stone by taking Gilly's car
apart, reassembling it in the sheriff's office, and working on it there. Andy
returns just in time for the test run and blows his stack. Before Goober can get
the car outside again, some state patrolmen show up and mistake Goober's project
for a clever car saftey exhibit.

Diamond Jim's, a new butcher shop, opens and Bee heads there hunting for a
bargain. She walks out with a side of beef to put in her last "bargain"
purchase-a freezer that she discovers doesn't work. Now stuck with a freezor
full of thawing beef she must return to Foley for help, but even though Foley
offers to store the contraband, Andy won't allow it and instead buys a brand-new
freezer.

* When Aunt Bee is pulling the wagon of meat to Foley's, she makes a right turn across the street from the courthouse. That would take her in the opposite direction of Foley's. Earlier in the episode, Foley's is clearly on the same side of the same block as the courthouse.

John Masters discovers Gomer's singing voice and decides to give him the solo in
the upcoming concert instead of Barney. When Gomer realizes how important the
solo is to Barney he fakes laryngitis, and just before curtain, Andy has to talk
Barney into going on. Gomer's trick is discovered when, in his excitement to see
Barney, he forgets himself and speaks in a full voice. As a result, Barney
refuses his charity, but Andy grabs both of them as the curtain goes up and the
solo becomes a trio.

==Plot Summary==
John Masters discovers Gomer's singing voice and decides to give him the solo in
the upcoming concert instead of Barney. When Gomer realizes how important the
solo is to Barney he fakes laryngitis, and just before curtain, Andy has to talk
Barney into going on. Gomer's trick is discovered when, in his excitement to see
Barney, he forgets himself and speaks in a full voice. As a result, Barney
refuses his charity, but Andy grabs both of them as the curtain goes up and the
solo becomes a trio.

the radio, he and Helen have to climb back in so Barney can rescue them, saving

==Plot Summary==
Floyd finds himself in a jam when a woman he's been corresponding with writes to
say that she plans on paying him a visit in Mayberry. Floyd begs Andy for help,
explaining that he has deceived his Lonely Hearts Club companion by leading her
to believe that he is a wealthy businessman. Andy reluctantly agrees to help
Floyd but in the process discovers that Madeline Grayson isn't quite what she
claims either. Floyd's poisonous pen pal is actually a con artist who travels
around bilking lonely old men out of their money.

==Plot Summary==
Andy's law-enforcement practices come into question when a local farmer
complains of missing milk cows. Mayor Stoner goes over Andy's head and calls in
"an interloper" from the state office to take over the investigation. Andy
manages to save the day by capturing the thief without the help of the
outsider. Andy discovers that the thefts were being covered up by putting shoes
on the cows.

Andy shows up for a date with Peggy McMillan only to learn her old friend Don

Andy shows up for a date with Peggy McMillan only to learn her old friend Don
has arrived unexpectedly. Andy departs angrily when Peggy breaks their date and
then encounters more problems when Barney decides to make things better by
fixing him up with another girl. Andy ends up getting himself punched in the
eye, but manages to fix things up with Peggy, and they live happily ... until
the end of this episode ... and then we never see her again.

==Plot Summary==
After Peggy McMillan shows up in a brand new T-bird, Andy learns she's the
daughter of the "M" in R & M Grain Elevators. Andy, against Barney's advice,
struggles to fit in with the wealthy class. Realizing finally that it's better
to be himself and that the true value of a person lies beyond his bankbook, the
two live happily ... for one more episode.
