− | Hey Allen. There's an error on the list of Mr. Schwamp appearances on 'Gomer Pyle- USMC' on his Mayberry Historical Society web page. While he did appear in 'One Of Our Shells Is Missing' he did not show up in 'Supply Sergeants Never Die'. I have the DVDs and have looked for him several times after seeing that list and he does not appear in that episode. He does however appear in two other episodes- 'Gomer, the Welsh Rarebit Fiend' (3-1-1967) and 'Gomer, the Beautiful Dreamer' (10-6-1967). I have screen captures of him in the 2 episodes if you'd like me to forward for the official verification. Latest revision as of 23:30, 10 September 2017
The confusion over the spelling of his name arose after he was referred to as Mr.Schwump in the read through rehearsals. Upon checking, his name was written Schwamp in the scripts. It was decided to continue w/ the colloquial pronunciation, rather than Schwamp.
The above was posted on the site and I thank you for the comments but where did this information come from? I understood that the spelling Schwump came from Jim Clark and Ken Beck attempt to spell the name from listening to his name being said on the episodes. Later (many years), Jim Clark found a script that provided the spelling Schwamp rather than Schwamp which resulted in he and Beck correcting the spelling in future revisions of their books. I have placed the questioned information here in the discussion area so we might all come to an agreement over the correctness of the information. Floyd Lawson 21:59, 31 August 2009 (EDT)

Hey Allen.
